Updated summer guide: Brown County Fair, Rock the Dock, igNight Market part of busy weekend ahead (1)

The summer calendar is quickly fillingup, and doesn't it feel,oh, so good?

After most major events were forced to sit out last year, the summer of 2021 is shaping up to look a whole lot more like the season of outdoor fun we all know and love.

Not everything has been penciled in yet, as organizers are still working to find ways to bring back old favorites or map out new new offerings. Remember, good things come to those who wait. Here's a guide by date to get you started, but check back often as other events pop up.

Pooches and Pints Summer Kick-Off

4-8 p.m. June 17 at Green Isle Park, 900 Greene Ave., Allouez. Food trucks, craft beers from local breweries, music and apop-up dog park. All dogs must be on a leash and current on their rabies vaccination.

Cars & Guitars Car Show

8 a.m.-2 p.m. June 19 outside The Automobile Gallery & Event Center, 400 S. Adams St., Green Bay. Nearly 300 cars of all makes, models and years are expected. Music by Johnny Wad beginning at 10 a.m. Kid’s Zone features face painting, lawn games, craft project and hula hoops. Food and beverages sold on site. The sixth annual event is free; food donations accepted for Paul’s Pantry and NEW Community Shelter. Cost to register a car is $10in advance at theautomobilegallery.org and $15 day of show.

Sip ‘n Safari

6-9 p.m. June 22 at NEW Zoo & Adventure Park, 4378 Reforestation Road, Suamico. Thisnew NEW Zoological Society fundraiserinvites visitors to taste wines and cheeses at watering holes set up throughout the zoo, while learningabout threatened and endangered species that live there. Tickets are $30 in advance at newzoosociety.org or $35 at the door if still available. Must be 21 or older to attend.

Green Bay Kids’ Day

8 a.m.- 9 p.m. June 25 at Fisk Park, Joannes Park and other locations throughout Green Bay. The annual celebration of kids packs a full day of free activities, including swimming, bowling, sailboat rides, playground fun and a movie at Bay Beach Amusem*nt Park at dusk. Theatre in the Park

2 and 6:30 p.m. June 26-27 in the open-air lot at 1417 Cedar Str.in Olde Main Street Arts District. Play-by-Play Theatre performs Shakespeare’s “Romeo & Juliet.” Audiences bring their own lawn chair. Tickets are $10 at eventbrite.com.

Festival Foods Fire Over the Fox

9:45 p.m. July 4 over the Fox River in downtown Green Bay. The big boom of the Fourth of July fireworks display is back,but the accompanying daylong celebration that traditionally includes multiple stages, food vendors and other activities has been scaled back. Two bands, Eminence and Johnny Wad, will perform from 5 to 9:45 p.m. at Leicht Memorial Park, where there will also be food trucks and a beverage tent. WIXX, 101.1 FM, will play music programmed to the fireworks. Reserved VIP fireworks seating available for $10 per personat eventbrite.com.

Pearly Gates Veterans Ride

July 10 from Pearly Gates, 3551 Finger Road, Green Bay. Following a military ceremony at 11:15 a.m., the motorcycle ride to benefit local veterans leaves at 12:30 p.m. from Pearly Gates and travels to Maribel for outdoor entertainment on Main Street. Allouez Movies in the Park

Dusk July 9 (“The Mighty Ducks”) and Aug. 13 (“Sonic the Hedgehog”) at Green Isle Park baseball diamond, Allouez.Free. Bring your own blanket or chair. No concessions this year.

Green Bay Restaurant Week

July 15-22. The Greater Green Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau's ninth annual event is back on the July calendar after it was bumped to September last year due to COVID-19. Participating restaurants willshowcase the diversity of the local dining sceneby rolling out a special eight-day menu of three-course meals at a fixed price. The 33 restaurants participating this year, and their menus, can be found atgbrestaurantweek.com. Take note of those restaurants that recommend reservations during the busy event.

Pulaski Polka Days

Gates open at 4 p.m. July 15, 1 p.m. July 16, 11 a.m. July 17 and 8 a.m. July 18 at Pulaski Polka Days Grounds,429 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski. Wisconsin's state dance gets a happy spin aroundmultiple dancefloors — indoors and out. Fireworksat dusk cap offopening night, and the parade steps off at 11 a.m. July 18. Tickets will be sold at the gates only: $2 July 15 for Community Night, $15 July 16 or 17 and free July 18. Children 12 and younger are free. Pink Flamingo Classic

July 16-18 at Legion Park, De Pere. The pandemic benched the slow-pitch softball tournament in 2020, but the nonprofit Pink Flamingos still managed to raise a record $108,000 for community projects. This year, it’s game on. That means a three-day, pink-themed party that is as much a community festival as it is a sporting event. The 38th year will see the return of the Pink Flamingo Classic Parade at 9 a.m. July 17, a free concert byBig Mouth & The Power Tool Horns at 7 p.m. July 17 and the return of the 1986 logo on merchandise. Beer Garden

3-7 p.m. July 30 at Pamperin Park,2801 County RK, Howard.Brown County Parks teamsup with Stillmank Brewery and Anhapee Brewery for a new event thatoffers guests a chance to take in the natural beauty of the sprawling park along Duck Creek. In addition to local craft beers, there's will be live music, games and food trucks. Leashed dogs arewelcome.Proceeds from the event will help future projects at the park, which is the largest in the Brown County Parks System.

Monster Jam

1 and 7 p.m. July 31; 1 p.m. Aug. 1 at Resch Center, 820 Armed Forces Drive, Ashwaubenon. The touring monster truck event is back on the road and making a summer stop. Trucks expected to tear up some dirt in the arena: Grave Digger, Whiplash, Jurassic Attack, Wrecking Machine, Overbored and Black Pearl. Bike to the Beat

Aug. 7. Fox Communities Credit Union’s bike ride and mini music fest returns in conjunction with Mile of Music Aug. 5-8 in Appleton. This year, starting locations are in De Pere and Combined Locks. Riders depart from The Abbey, 303 Reid St., De Pere, and choose an 8-, 36-, 40- or 57-mile route with food and music stops featuring Mile of Music artists. Registration will be capped to allow for social distancing, so early registration is encouraged. Cost is $10 per rider until June 19. It increases to $20 June 20 through July 4 and then is $25 and up. More info at biketothebeat.com. Proceeds benefit Fox Cares Foundation.

Packers Family Night

Aug. 7 at Lambeau Field. A perennial sellout, the popular event takes a full 11-on-11 team practice at the stadium and gives it a game-like atmosphere with music, videos and fireworks. Details of this year’s event and information on ticket sales will be released later. packers.com.

Feast with the Beasts

5-8 p.m. Aug. 9 at NEW & Adventure Park,4378 Reforestation Road, Suamico. More that 40 local restaurants and breweries will be serving samples of their specialties throughout the zoo. New this year: a VIP hour from 5 to 6 p.m. allows for a head start on the grazingbefore general admission begins at 6 p.m. Tickets for the NEW Zoological Society fundraiser go on sale July 1;newzoosociety.org.

PAW Patrol Paw-Palooza

8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 13-15 at National Railroad Museum, 2285 S. Broadway, Ashwaubenon. Join the pups of Nickelodeon’s “PAW Patrol" — Chase, Marshall, Skye and Rubble — for a day that includes rescue vehicles, train rides, crafts, children’s entertainment and other activities. There are 10scheduled train departures daily. $16 per person, free ages younger than 2; purchase tickets for a train time at nationalrrmuseum.org.

Brown County Fair

Aug. 18-22 at Brown County Fairgrounds, 1500 Fort Howard Ave., De Pere. Last year’s fair was one of just 13 in Wisconsin open to the public during the pandemic. Its 2021 schedule is already set, with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Rodeo, demolition derby and truck, tractor and horse pulls all returning. The Aussie Kingdom traveling animal show will bringkangaroos, wallabies, wallaroos and native Australian birds. Big Mouth & The Power Tool Horns headline Aug. 20 and country-rock band The 308s play Aug. 21.

All-access passes at the gate are $14 daily, except for $10 on Aug. 22. They include unlimited carnival rides, parking and all entertainment. Children 3 and younger are free. A ride pass for ages 3 and younger is available for $5 at the fair office. browncountyfair.comand 920-336-7292.

Rock the Dock

Noon-10 p.m. Aug. 21 on CityDeck, downtown Green Bay. Compassionate Home Health Care Inc.’s annual fundraiser for the Holiday Giving Campaign debuted in 2019, went virtual in 2020 by having artists perform at landmarks around the city, and now returns to the waterfront. Thirteen local bandswill play three stages. Among the performers: Mistrial, Crater, The Bandits, Super Vinyl, Scarlet and The Noble Bros. The day also includes arts and crafts vendors, food, wine and beer. Full band schedule atrockthedockgreenbay.org.

IgNight Markets

5-10 p.m. Aug. 21, Sept. 18 and Oct. 16 in Broadway District, downtown Green Bay. The first one onAug. 21 will be at Leicht Memorial Park, where 14 hot-air balloons will be illuminated for a balloon glow. The September market will be in the Neville Public Museum of Brown County parking lot, and the October one will be under the Mason Street bridge. The markets featurelocal artisans and makers,live music, interactive art demonstrations, street performers, food trucks and other activities.

The Comeback Event: UntitledTown

10 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 21 at Brown County Central Library, 515 Pine St., Green Bay. The book and author festival, shelved last year due to the pandemic, returns as a one-day eventfeaturing readings and events with Wisconsin and Midwestern authors, including Niagara native Andrew Graff("Raft of Stars"), Nickolas Butler ("Godspeed"),Rebecca Makkai("The Great Believers")and Patricia Skalka (Dave Cubiak Door County mysteries). Presented by Friends of the Brown County Library, Lion's Mouth Bookstore and Brown County Library. Full schedule of authors at lionsmouthbookstore.com.

Greater Green Bay YMCA's 150th anniversary

11 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 21 at Ferguson Family YMCA, 235 N. Jefferson St., Green Bay.The celebration includes food trucks, children's activities, live music, building tours and a time capsule reveal from 1924.

Mural & Busker Festival

Aug. 26-29 in Broadway District, Green Bay.Street performers, or buskers, will entertain with music, juggling and dancing, while artists create murals. Muralists will begin their work Aug. 26 and 27, and buskers will perform from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 28 and 29 as the murals continue. Locations of the murals will be announced later.

Artstreet

Aug. 27-29 in downtown Green Bay.After the 39th annualeventwas canceled last year and a limited number of artists fanned out to sites around the city to sell their wares, the juried art fairwill return as a three-day festivalat its home on Adams, Cherry and Northland streets. About 115 artists are registered to exhibit and sell, down from the 200 during a normal year. FBI & TheUntouchable Horns, Delta Jets, Big Mouth & The Power Tool Horns, 7000apart, Agua Fresca Band, Brass Differential are among the bands performing. Oneida Pow Wow

Aug. 28-29 atNorbert Hill Center grounds, N7210 Seminary Road, Oneida. Cultural dancers, singers, drummers and vendors selling Indigenous-made wares will participate in one of the largest pow wows in the Midwest. 920-496-5647. CANCELED AS OFJULY 29.

De Pere Food Truck Rally

3-7 p.m. Sept. 12 on George Street Plaza, downtown De Pere. First-time event will also include live music, outdoor lawn games, face painting and balloon animals.

'Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea'

9 a.m.-8 p.m. through Aug. 31 and 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Sept. 1-26 at Green Bay Botanical Garden, 2600 Larsen Road. It's the Wisconsin premiere for the national touring exhibit of larger-than-lifeanimal sculptures made entirely from plastic garbage and other debris washed up on beaches. Look for such creatures asPriscilla the Parrot Fish, Stanley the SturgeonandGiacometti the River Otter throughout the gardens and inside the visitor center. Farmers markets

Farmers Market on Broadway:3-8 p.m. Wednesdays through Sept. 29 (until 7 p.m. after Labor Day) on Broadway in downtown Green Bay. More than 90 vendors, beer garden, food trucks.

Saturday Farmers Market:7 a.m.-noon Saturdays through Oct. 30 at South Washington and Doty streets, downtown Green Bay. More than 75 vendors.

Titletown Night Market:4:30-8:30 p.m. Thursdays through Sept. 2 on the plaza at Titletown District. More than 70 vendors selling produce, crafts and food. Band and family activities each week. titletown.com.

De Pere Farmers Market:3-8 p.m. Thursdays June 17-Sept. 23 (until 7 p.m. in September) onGeorge Street Plaza, between Wisconsin Street and Broadway. More than 20 vendors, food, drink and live music.
