NY weather update: Niagara County under a flash flood warning until Tuesday midday (2024)

On Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. an updated flash flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 12:45 p.m. for Niagara County.

"At 10:30 a.m., local law enforcement reported flash flooding some roadways in the Lewiston area.Between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen in the warned area. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected," according to the weather service. "Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas."

Locations impacted by the warning include Niagara Falls, Lewiston, Youngstown, Sanborn, Fort Niagara State Park, Wilson, Ransomville, Model City and Cambria Center.

The weather service adds, "Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads."
